Biar Malam Datang

Let the Night Fall

Exploration of the body within the invisible and unnoticed web of trauma continuously leads me to trace paths back to the core corners of humanity and life.

Weaving oneself into the spaces of movement and existence to align with the world turns each individual into a programmed being. Equipped with filters and control, constructing a reality one chooses to believe in, yet often clashing with the conscience. Perpetuated in daily life, forming an endless cycle.

Children and their environment become focal points of the intervention of this programmed nature. In that case, what if that trained programming system is touched to break down each individual's programming by stimuli of freedom and an active pulse of imagination and expression?

The body, a porous shell that breathes and lives, holds both awareness and honesty. Seeing the body as the earliest companion of every individual, as well as a vessel of expression, how can we guide it to break through these webs while still holding onto both values: awareness and honesty?

Biar Malam Datang is a work of exploration and celebration of the body as a close companion, ready to be invited to play at any moment. It challenges the body to step beyond its existing boundaries, both consciously and unconsciously, transforming into a stage for imagination and expression.

In this first stage, the project begins with an invitation for children to listen to a 'broken storytelling' audio while drawing. Their drawings will be seen as subconscious expressions and interpretations of the audio, which will then be transformed into visuals for the future performance.
